Prerequisites: Member must be an E-4, having completed the FS2 EOCT and be on the advancement list for FS2, or an E-5 in receipt of orders to a WPB (87?? or 110?) independent afloat billet.
Special Info: Members with orders to WPB (87?? or 110??) afloat billets will have priority to attend this course. XO/XPOs will be considered to attend this course on a space available basis.


This course provides E-4 through E-5 Food Service Specialists with instruction and application of laws, regulations and policies related to independently managing their small Coast Guard Dining Facility. Students will receive instruction on menu drafting, food and non-food purchasing procedures, administrative paperwork procedures required of the Small Dining Facility using the Purchase vs. Allowance system on Microsoft Excel, open galley procedures, how to prepare for the Annual Audit and Biennial Food Service Assistance and Training Team Assessment, disestablishment/re-establishment of the Dining Facility, maintaining Dining Facility equipment and Health and Safety requirements. Students will use Independent Duty Food Service galley operation scenarios, role play and mock submission of the Coast Guard Dining Facility Operating Statement, CG-2576. To successfully complete the course, students must execute the task to Coast Guard standards in a high simulation of task conditions, as measured by a valid, reliable performance test.
